We’re on the middle of the testing week (eyeOS 1.7 final is planned for the last days of this week), but we can already say that the preview server, which we prepared to allow people to test and report bugs, has been a success: There are more than 730 registered users right now.
This is why we would really like to receive feedback and specially to receive bug reports from all of you who are collaborating on making eyeOS 1.7 really stable.
To report a bug, just register on the Launchpad Community and go to the eyeOS bugs page. From there you can just click “Report a bug” and follow the instructions. With that simple act you will be actively contributing to eyeOS!
Maybe, you should add an auto-run app to every user that shows an explanation about the server and has links to bug reporting pages…

I am sorry, but we have a so called “string freeze” at the moment. I like that idea of something like eyeWelcome. But iT#s something for eyeOS 1.7.1.0 and 2.0.0.0!

We really should develop something like eyeWelcome for the next version. In the preview it should be launched and tell the user, that he / she is using a preview, which is only for testing purposes!
I have just tested the installer and everything work, but I have two suggestions:
1. At the root folder create an index.php file redirecting to the correct folder
2. The top bar at the installer is using the old theme (from 1.0.x and 1.1.x), maybe it would be a good idea to update it to the “new” style.

1. I don’t like such a solution: If you update a system and some users are registered they will be logged out and redirected to the updater. I don’t think that’s okay for most administrators.
2. You are correct. I updated the installer to fit the new window and button look.
