Community Programming Contest semi finalists available

We’re glad to present the first round of finalists of the first eyeOS Community Programming Contest. Today we’re opening the voting process to determinate the 5 finalists, which will end on September 14th. The winners will be announced on September 21st.

There are two ways to test the semifinalists and after that, vote for them. The first one is to download from this page the submitted packages and test them on your own eyeOS. The second one, to test them directly from the eyeOS server created for the CPC09 which has all the apps as icons in the desktop. Just create an account them and test the apps! (Note that this server will be deleted after this process).

Once you have tested the apps you can submit your vote in this eyeOS forums thread. You can vote for up to three apps.

The semi finalists:

Backgroundr (Download package): Small application that helps you to customize the wallpaper on your desktop eyeOS. With a small widget you can select the wallpaper in a easy. And with de extended options you can programe the change backgroundr and other options.

Application Integrator (eyeOS Forums) (Download package): eyeOS Application Integrator Kit is a example of application to integrate websites into eyeOS. This package contains an integration of the eyeOS Forum, but a tutorial will come soon to show you how to integrate easily apps.

eyePictures (Download Package): The eyeOS image viewer, which combines an integrated directory browser which shows information about the current directory and about directories and images inside it. It also supports image rotation along with 9 image filters so you can play around with your favorite pictures.

eyeQuiz (Download Package): eyeQuiz is an application to realize simple tests, it comes with a viewer and a quiz editor. Files are saved in a XML file with a .eyequiz extension.

eyeStore (Download Package): eyeStore is for eyeOS what Apple store is for iPhone. It’s a new applications manager that will offer new features. Dashboard managagement, Opensocial and Netvibes Widgets Integration, multi-desktops and more.

eyeWelcome (Download Package): An eyeos application that greets and helps the new users.

ONChat (Download Package) : This is a Chat app. It supports user and group chats and it displays who is online. (not online on the system, but online in the app). It also supports plugins. Requires SQLite.

ZohoSuite2 (Download Package) : ZohoSuite2 is the intergration of Zoho Office with eyeOS. You can now create, edit and save documents, sheets and presentations with Zoho.

Last 2 days to submit applications for eyeOS Community Programming Contest

Today and tomorrow are the last two days to submit your applications for the eyeOS Community Programming Contest 2009. The submission process will be closed tomorrow, August 20th, at 11.59pm. We’ll then list the submitted applications and make them available for everyone to test and vote them.

Please remember that in order to submit the application you must post it in eyeos-apps.org and afterwards fill this form with your eyeos-apps username and application submitted’s URL. We’ll be contacting you after that to let you decide if you want to show directly your application installed in an eyeos system or to present it through screenshots or video (we’ll need to validate that the screenshots/video are actually made from the version you submitted).

CPC2009 application submission process opened

We’re opening today the process to submit applications fot the Community Programming Contest 2009. As we announced with the CPC09 presentation, every participant will be able to submit his application/s until August 20th at 11.59pm Spain time.

The process will be, for every application presented (e.g. if you want to submit two applications you will need to fill the form twice):

  1. Submit the application at eyeos-apps.org. You will need to register an user there first.
  2. Fill this form with your eyeos-apps username and app URL.
  3. On August 21th we will pick the latest available version of your app in the URL you have submitted as the final application which will participate on the CPC2009.

Note that we will not check the apps now, so you can submit the app today, and continue updating it. The version considered as final will be the one we’ll find in the URL you submit on the form (which must be an eyeos-apps app URL) on August 20th. Until that date you can update the application with newer versions.

We will be publishing a sandbox to test the applications submitted on August 25th and we will open the voting process for the whole eyeos community. Note that we may need to contact the participants before to prepare their sandbox if any problem occurs.
